The built-in way to add a restaurant menu to a Wix website is the Wix Restaurants Menus app, which is free to install and gives every dish photos, prices, a description and dietary labels. You can also link a PDF of your menu, or embed a menu from another service with Wix's Embed HTML element or with Custom Code in your site's settings. Custom Code needs a published site with a connected domain, which means a Premium plan.

This guide walks through each way step by step, explains what each one means for search, and ends with checking the result on your phone.

Which way to add your menu on Wix

Think about a busy Friday. The fish runs out at 7:30, a guest asks which dishes have nuts, and the PDF on your site still shows last month's prices. The way you add your menu decides how quickly you can deal with each of those.

The Menus app suits a restaurant that wants its menu built and edited inside Wix. A PDF suits a menu that's already designed and rarely changes. The two embed options suit a restaurant that already uses a menu service and wants that service's menu on its Wix site.

How to add a menu with the Wix Restaurants Menus app

Wix Restaurants Menus is Wix's own menu app, and its App Market listing marks it free to install. The listing covers photos, prices and descriptions for every dish, dietary and allergen labels, and separate menus for lunch, dinner, drinks and daily specials. Wix's overview of the app adds that you can create and edit menus from the Wix app on your phone, which helps when the kitchen runs out of something mid-service.

How to add the Wix Restaurants Menus app

In the Wix Editor (Wix help):

  1. Click Add Apps on the left side of the editor.
  2. Search for "Wix Restaurants Menus".
  3. Click Add to Site.

You can also add it from the App Market in your site's dashboard, or from the Wix app on your phone. Once it's added, you build your menus in the dashboard.

How to create a menu and add dishes on Wix

  1. In your site's dashboard, go to Restaurant Menus and click + Add Menu.
  2. Choose Create manually.
  3. Enter the menu's name and description. If you have more than one location, pick the location. Check Mark as a draft if you aren't ready to show it yet.
  4. Click Save, then add sections and dishes.

Each section has a name, a description, an image and a Show on menu toggle, and you can reorder sections. Each dish needs a name and a price, though you can hide prices. Add a description, then photos: Wix's help says you can add several images for each dish.

If a dish comes in sizes, turn on Set price per variant and add each size's name and price. For a dish whose price moves often, such as the catch of the day, you can set Market Price. A ribbon such as "Popular" or "Bestseller" can highlight a dish.

How to add dietary and allergen labels on Wix

Labels tell a guest what's in a dish before they ask. Wix's examples include Vegan, Gluten Free, Spicy and Extra Hot, and each label has a name and an icon (Wix help). The App Market listing says you can create your own labels too, and Wix's overview of the app gives a label for dishes containing nuts as an example.

How to import a PDF menu into Wix

If your menu is already a PDF, the app can read it in. On a computer:

  1. In Restaurant Menus, click + Add Menu and select Import from file.
  2. Click Select Menu File, then choose the file, or upload it with + Upload Media.
  3. Review the preview and click Continue.
  4. Check the menu name and, if you have several locations, the location. Then click Confirm & Add.
  5. Edit the sections and dishes as needed.

Wix accepts PDF, PNG, JPG, WEBP and CSV files for import, and PDFs of up to 100 pages. Only text-based items come across from a PDF, and images inside it aren't extracted, so you add dish photos afterwards. If one file holds several menus, Wix merges them into one menu with several sections, so import lunch and dinner as separate files to keep them apart. Importing works on a computer, and Wix says the Wix app doesn't support it yet.

Wix menus for several locations and languages

You can build several menus, such as lunch, dinner and drinks, and reorder them. If you have more than one location, add each one in Business Info, then create menus for it. Guests can choose their location and see what's available there, and each location has its own link you can share (Wix help).

Each menu belongs to one location, so to use a menu in two places, duplicate it and choose the second location for the copy. Design changes apply to every location. To show your menu in another language, Wix uses its Wix Multilingual app, which Wix's help says isn't currently available in the Wix Harmony Editor.

Online ordering and a printable menu on Wix

The Menus app shows your menu. To take pickup or delivery orders from it, Wix connects your menu to a separate app, Wix Restaurants Orders.

The app can also make a print version. In Restaurant Menus, click the More Actions icon beside a menu, select Design print menu, choose a design, and click Download Menu for a PDF (Wix help).

How to add a PDF menu to Wix

If your menu is a designed PDF, you can link it from a button or another element on your page. When a guest clicks, the PDF opens in a new browser tab (Wix help).

In the Wix Editor:

  1. Click the element that should open the menu, such as a button.
  2. Click the Link icon and select Document.
  3. Click Choose File, then Upload Media to upload your PDF to the Media Manager.
  4. Click Add to Page, then Done.

The Wix Editor also has document buttons for linking files. In Wix Studio, you can link a styled button to the document and add an icon.

Each price change means editing the original, exporting a new PDF and uploading it again. For a fuller look at what a PDF does well and what a menu page adds, see PDF menu vs. online menu.

How to embed a menu on Wix

If you already use a menu service, it gives you a snippet of code to paste. Wix has two places for code: the Embed HTML element on a page, and Custom Code in your site's settings. They run your code in different places, so the choice matters.

How to embed a menu with the Wix Embed HTML element

In the Wix Editor (Wix help):

  1. Click Add Elements on the left side of the editor.
  2. Click Embed Code, then Popular Embeds, then Embed HTML.
  3. Click the new element on your page and select Enter Code.
  4. Paste the snippet under Add your code here and click Apply.
  5. If you like, describe the embed under What's in the embed?

In Wix Studio, the path is Add Elements, then Embed & Social, then Embed Code, where you click Enter Code, paste and click Apply (Wix help). Wix only displays code that uses HTTPS.

Wix's developer documentation says the HTML element creates a sandboxed environment, an iframe, with no direct access to the other elements on your page (Wix Developers). So an embedded menu's text stays inside its frame, apart from your page's own text.

On phones, Wix's help on HTML code on mobile says content larger than the frame gets cut off and shows scroll bars, and suggests resizing the frame. For code that isn't built for phones, Wix recommends hiding the desktop code and adding a phone-friendly version in the mobile editor.

How to add a menu script with Wix Custom Code

Custom Code adds a snippet to the head or body of your site's pages. Wix's help says your site must be published and have a connected domain first (Wix help), and connecting a domain needs a Premium plan (Wix help). For what each plan costs, see Wix's plans page.

  1. Go to Settings in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click Custom Code under Development & integrations.
  3. Click + Add Custom Code at the top right.
  4. Paste the snippet and give it a name.
  5. Under Add Code to Pages, choose all pages or the specific page.
  6. Under Place Code in, choose the head, the start of the body or the end of the body, then click Apply.

Custom code doesn't take effect in the editor and runs only on the published site, so check it there (Wix Developers). Wix's developer docs also note that Wix generates class names and element IDs dynamically, so code that targets them may break when the site is republished.

Wix doesn't provide support for third-party snippets and asks you to contact the provider. Wix also says it added new security measures for custom code in December 2025, and some snippets that worked before may be blocked until their provider updates them.

Where MenuFramer fits on Wix

MenuFramer is one of these embedded menus. You keep your Wix site and paste one snippet into your menu page, and guests get a photo per dish, search, and dietary and allergy filters. Our script embed is the one built to write the menu into your own page, and Wix keeps anything in an Embed HTML element inside its frame. We haven't tested that script through Wix's Custom Code, so we make no claim that it works there or brings search credit: contact us and we'll check your setup.

For search, the useful question is where your menu's text ends up. None of these ways makes a menu rank. At most, a way of publishing makes your menu eligible to appear.

WayWhere the menu's text ends up
Menus appIn Wix's app on your site, which Wix describes as SEO-friendly
PDF linkIn one PDF file, a file type Google lists as indexable
Embed HTML elementInside a sandboxed iframe, apart from your page's own text
Custom CodeWherever the script puts it, on the published site only

Wix's App Market listing calls the app's menus SEO-friendly. Google lists PDF among the file types it can index, and a PDF holds the whole menu in one file, so no dish has an address of its own. Wix's developer docs list adding structured data to your pages' head among Custom Code's uses. Whether a particular menu script works through it depends on the script.

For what Google documents about menus, structured data and embedded menus, see our guide to restaurant menu SEO. Nobody can promise where a menu shows in search.

How to check your menu on your phone

In the Wix Editor, click the Switch to mobile icon at the top of the editor, or press Ctrl-J (Cmd-J on a Mac), to see and adjust the mobile layout (Wix help). Then look at the published site on a real phone.

Wix's help says you need to publish first. Then click Site and View Site on Mobile, and scan the QR code with your phone (Wix help). Custom Code only runs on the published site, so this is the place to check it.

On your phone, try these:

  • Find a dish and its price without zooming in.
  • Find a dish with nuts, using its label or description, the way a guest with an allergy would.
  • If you used an Embed HTML element, scroll the whole menu and check nothing is cut off inside the frame.
  • Change one price, then reload the page to check the new price shows.

Frequently asked questions

Does Wix have a built-in restaurant menu?

Yes. Wix Restaurants Menus is Wix's own app, and its App Market listing marks it free to install. It gives each dish photos, a description, a price and labels, and handles several menus and locations.

Can I import my PDF menu into Wix?

Yes, with the Menus app on a computer. In Restaurant Menus, click + Add Menu, then Import from file, and choose your PDF, which can be up to 100 pages. Wix brings in the text items and leaves out images inside the PDF, so add your dish photos afterwards.

Do I need a Premium plan to add a menu on Wix?

The Menus app is free to install, and Wix's help pages for it, for linking documents and for the Embed HTML element don't list a plan requirement. Custom Code needs a published site with a connected domain, and Wix says connecting a domain needs a Premium plan. For what each plan costs, see Wix's plans page.

Can search engines read a menu in a Wix Embed HTML element?

Wix's documentation describes the element as a sandboxed iframe with no direct access to the rest of your page. The menu's text stays inside that frame, apart from your page's own text. Wix's help pages don't say how search engines treat what's inside it.

Why can't I see my Custom Code in the Wix editor?

Wix runs custom code only on the published site, and snippets don't appear as elements in the editor. Publish your site, then open it in a browser or on your phone to check. Your site also needs a connected domain before you can add custom code.

Can guests order from the Wix Restaurants Menus app?

Ordering is a separate Wix app, Wix Restaurants Orders, which connects to your menus so guests can order for pickup or delivery from your site. The Menus app on its own shows your menu.
